Frame Galaxy

Frame Galaxy | NGC 3621

22 million light years away, this field spiral galaxy is believed to host an active galactic nucleus—a supermassive black hole, in this case—at its core. Its spiral arms showcase bluish clusters that are indicative of ongoing star formation. Remarkably, the Frame Galaxy lacks a central bulge that is typically found in spiral galaxies, setting it apart from its more common counterparts.
