Helix Nebula | C63 | NGC 7293
The Helix Nebula (NGC 7293, also cataloged as C63) is a colourful planetary nebula located about 650 light-years away in the constellation Aquarius. Often called the “Eye of God” due to its appearance, it parades the final stages of a Sun-like star shedding its outer layers and leaving behind a hot white dwarf at its core. The nebula’s intricate structure of glowing gas and dust filaments spans nearly 2.5 light-years across, making it one of the closest and most detailed planetary nebulae visible from Earth.
