Rosette Nebula | C49 | NGC 2239

A close-up view of the centre of the Rosette Nebula, 5,200 light years away. This image also features the Satellite Cluster (classified as C50 and NGC 2244) at the heart of the nebulosity, whose stars were formed from the nebula’s gaseous material approximately 5 million years ago.
